Abstract

The first issue of Volume 7 of the International Journal of Neurology (1968) was dedicated to amnesias. It opened with editorials in Spanish and English and brought together leading international research on the neurological, psychological, and anatomical bases of memory disorders.

The issue included Jacques Barbizet’s comprehensive study on the physiopathology of amnesias and George A. Talland’s exploration of the psychological mechanisms impaired in amnesic syndromes. Serge Brion analyzed the anatomopathological aspects of different forms of amnesia, while Barbizet and Elizabeth Cany presented a detailed clinical and psychometric case study of a patient with memory disturbances.

Additional contributions addressed traumatic amnesias (W. Ritchie Russell) and affective amnesias (R. Diotkine), offering diverse perspectives on the etiology and manifestation of memory loss. The issue concluded with sections on personality, book reviews, and news.

This volume represented a major contribution to the understanding of memory pathology, bridging clinical neurology, neuropsychology, and affective neuroscience.
