Peer Review Policy

The International Journal of Neurology applies a rigorous, impartial, and transparent peer-review process to ensure the scientific quality, originality, and relevance of all submitted manuscripts. The journal is committed to editorial independence and to maintaining high standards of academic and ethical evaluation.

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo an initial editorial assessment carried out by the editorial office. At this stage, submissions are evaluated for their alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, originality, scientific relevance, methodological quality, ethical considerations, and compliance with the journal’s submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be declined without proceeding to external peer review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are subject to a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed. Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise in the relevant area of neurology. When required, additional reviewers may be invited at the discretion of the handling editor to ensure a thorough and balanced assessment.

Reviewers are requested to assess manuscripts based on criteria that include originality, methodological rigor, clinical relevance, clarity of presentation, validity of results, and the significance of the contribution to neurological knowledge and clinical practice. Reviewer comments and recommendations assist the editor in making an informed editorial decision.

Based on the reviewers’ reports and the editor’s evaluation, a manuscript may be accepted, accepted with minor revisions, invited for major revision, or rejected. Authors are expected to address all reviewer and editorial comments in a clear and constructive manner when submitting revised manuscripts.

The International Journal of Neurology endeavours to complete the first round of peer review within a reasonable timeframe. While review timelines may vary depending on the nature of the submission and the availability of reviewers, the initial review process is typically completed within approximately three to four weeks.

Editors and reviewers are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest and to maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts. Editors do not participate in the review or decision-making process for manuscripts in which a conflict of interest exists.
